More Road Work. 61 to be shut down at the Hamilton Underpass

It’s the same old song and dance for motorists in the Susquehanna Valley.

Those who travel Route 61 at the Hamilton Underpass will have to follow a nearly 3 mile detour starting on Monday July, 23rd for a week…if not longer.

That means, going to Knoebels to squeeze the last ounce out of Summer Vacation may have some delays.

Here is the press release from our friends at PennDot:

On Monday morning, July 23, a contractor working for a utility company will begin concrete pavement restoration on Route 61 at the Hamilton Underpass at the City of Sunbury/Upper Augusta Township line.

Route 61 will be closed at the underpass 24 hours a day through the week. Work may also be performed the weekend of July 28-29.

A signed detour will be in place using Route 4012 (11th Street, Snydertown Road) and Route 4009 (Black Mill Road).
